Kari Gjerde, LPC

Philosophy & Approach

Our lives are difficult to manage alone and we live in a world that can feel isolating, overwhelming, and marginalizing. Let's work together to strengthen and heal your relationships, amplify your self directed wisdom, and clarify your personal goals. Along the way we will build insight into relational patterns, thoughts, and behaviors that no longer serve you to make way for growth.

I will draw from evidence-based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) while integrating relational-based theories to assist in awareness, acceptance, and change behaviors.

Education & Experience

I hold a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. Before entering private practice I worked in a variety of outpatient settings providing counseling to adults, adolescents, couples, and groups.

Specialties

I am practiced in treating folks struggling with depression, bipolar, PTSD, personality disorders, grief & loss, and anxiety disorders. My experience also includes working with queer and trans communities as well as survivors of interpersonal violence and abuse.

Behind the Scenes

I am a woman obsessed with her dogs. I escape to rivers and oceans when I have the chance. I enjoy tending my garden, crafting, and have a growing love of ceramics. I find that my clients appreciate my sense of humor and my ability to cut through to the core of the issue at hand in a non-shaming way.
